What is ClamHammock?
ClamHammock is a specially designed aragonite-based platform that provides a secure, elevated resting place for Tridacnid clams and other bivalves in marine aquariums.

What does ClamHammock do?
It cradles clams in an optimal position—facing light and elevated off the substrate—while allowing them to safely attach without risk of damage.

Why should I use a ClamHammock?

  • Protects the clam’s delicate foot from damage
  • Keeps the clam properly oriented toward lighting
  • Allows safe relocation after attachment
  • Prevents issues from unstable or shifting substrate

What is ClamHammock made of?
It is made from a highly porous, aragonite-based material (Xport-Ca) that mimics natural reef structure and supports biological activity.

Does ClamHammock provide biological filtration?
Yes. Its extremely high surface area allows beneficial nitrifying bacteria to colonize, contributing to biological filtration and nutrient stability.

Is ClamHammock safe for reef aquariums?
Yes. It is completely reef-safe and designed specifically for marine systems with clams and other invertebrates.

When should I use ClamHammock?

  • When introducing a new clam
  • When moving or repositioning an existing clam
  • In bare-bottom or unstable substrate systems
  • When you want better placement control for lighting and flow

How do I use ClamHammock?

  • Rinse briefly in aquarium water before use
  • Place the clam in the center of the hammock, flat side down
  • Position in a low-flow area with adequate lighting
  • Do not move the clam for ~5 days to allow attachment

Can I move the clam after it attaches?
Yes. Once the clam has attached to the ClamHammock, you can safely move the entire piece without damaging the clam’s foot.

Where should I place ClamHammock in the aquarium?

  • Start in a low-flow area
  • Ensure proper lighting for the species
  • Once attached, it can be moved to its final position

Will ClamHammock blend into the aquarium over time?
Yes. It becomes encrusted with coralline algae and blends naturally with live rock over time.

Can ClamHammock break?
It can break if dropped or mishandled, but pieces can be repaired with aquarium-safe adhesive if needed.

What problems does ClamHammock help solve?

  • Clams falling or tipping over
  • Foot damage from rough or unstable surfaces
  • Difficulty placing clams in optimal lighting
  • Risky relocation of attached clams
